I liked the idea of a story that drove translators — not readers or writers — to suicide, and the way everything was brought out at a remove, very elegantly. Hardboiled and Hard Luck. I suppose it was meant to be shocking and ground-breaking but wasn’t and I ended up feeling more confused than appalled or thrilled. Set up a giveaway. Though the press and professional book reviews rave about this novel, reviews from everyday readers are not as kind. It’s hard to review this book. Very strong forces propel one to suicide, and such forces were only hinted at or smoothed over by characters’ declarations of how troubled they were and how much they wanted to die.

The writing-style was unsettling and sentences and thoughts didn’t really connect to one another, one character would say something and the other one would reply with something else entirely.
I had read Asleep, which was very good, but N. Lascia due figli gemelli, un maschio, Otohiko, e una femmina, Saki. Although the entire novel has a depressing tone, it does have a good ending?

I don’t even know how to yohimoto the plot of N. Want to Read saving…. The novel is basically an endless dialogue between the characters with intermittent contemplations by the narrator.
