If you have never read a novel by Jude Deveraux, treat yourself to a “first impression” right now. It has everything you could possibly want in a novel. That said, I hate comparing an author to herself, rather than to other authors, but this just did not feel like a Jude Deveraux book! There wasn’t anything about it that made me want to keep reading it. I only finished because I was reading it for a challenge. It kept dragging on and on.
I think someone nude called it a” stinker” – and boy were they right.
Jude has also stepped outside her milieu, with mixed results. Now, she is the author of 31 New York Times bestsellers.

Too many descriptions of what the characters are thinking and feeling and how they’re going about their day. Jude Deveraux Narrated by: Her move is met with delight in some quarters, and jealousy in others.
InJude married and took her husband’s surname of White, but four years later they divorced. Donno, impressionns had potential but it just deflated by the end and even though Jared got his girl and i was happy for him, wasn’t elated. This is a sad repeat of some of Deveraux’s older story lines.
The forty-something single mother has worked hard to raise her beloved daughter — now twenty-seven and recently married. Now that Eden is 45, her daughter is about to become a mother, and Eden has received an inheritance, she decides to leave New York and head back South.

Her older books have two kinds of magic – the “magic” of loving the characters so much that you hate it when the book ends and you can’t wait until another book comes out in the series and then there’s the “magic” that happens with mysterious or supernatural forces that she used to be good at injecting into her books.
Deveraux manages to evoke a strong and convincing atmosphere for each of her books, but her dialogue and characters are as familiar as a modern-day soap opera’s. An Angel for Emily.
